JEWELLERY VALUATIONS

IN WOKINGHAM

Do you require a valuation for your jewellery or watches?

We have an on-site appraiser registered with Institute of Registered Valuers

Thomas William Jewellery are one of the only jewellers in Berkshire offering face to face dialogue with their onsite professional jewellery valuer who is a registered member (MIRV) of the National Association of Jewellers, Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV).

It is extremely important that you are given the correct documentation and value of your items. Receiving an in depth report in the required format can save a lot of time and stress if you need to make a claim. Remember cheapest is not always the best and this is a legal document. If you require advice or extra services this is something we can provide alongside our valuation service due to our on-site workshop and expertise.

WHY DO I NEED A JEWELLERY VALUATION?

Maybe you have been gifted some jewellery from a loved one, or need an up to date ‘replacement value’ for piece of jewellery.  Some people may want to sell jewellery to other parties, or need to know a value for probate purposes.  Whatever you reason Thomas William Jewellery can help.

The most common type of jewellery valuation is for Insurance purposes.  Did you know 1 in 4 UK households are underinsured?  You may be surprised to know the true value of your items .  We recommend that your items are re-valued by a professional every 3 to 5 years.

We also offer Post Loss Assessments for those people who have lost their jewellery and don’t have a valuation (helping them quantify their jewellery’s value to support an insurance claim).

THE VALUATION PROCESS

1) To Book in, please bring the following things with you to the shop with your items:

  • Your articles

  • Any receipts

  • Any previous valuations

  • Any boxes, ideally original ones

  • Any warranties (even old ones), service or repair history paperwork, certificates or third-party papers relating to the articles (watches or jewellery)

  • The deceased’s name and date of passing, if needed for probate

(Please note that withholding any pertinent information will potentially void our work, require recalculations and require additional fees)

2) Your items are assessed, working notes accrued and photographed onsite.  Your items are ready for collection within a couple of days

3) Our valuer researches and compiles your valuation document which can take up to two weeks.
